Welcome to The Listening Suite 

The Listening Suite was founded by managing partners Jonathan Ford and David Browne.

Our combined 45 years experience as live sound and recording engineers along with our enthusiasm and passion for music brings a wealth of knowledge and support to customers and music enthusiasts alike, plus a unique presentation and a renewed listening experience to the world of HiFi. The Listening Suite reintroduces the enjoyment of listening to music through HiFi systems that we believe are both musical and emotive.

Recording Engineer 1983 - 1988

David's career began in Dublin at Lombard Studios now Westland Studios in the summer of 1983 as tape operator/assistant engineer. During the years 1983 to 1988, he worked with various Irish recording artists from Aslan, Phil Lynott Grand Slam, Paul Brady, Mary Coughlan, Mary Black, Johnny Duhan, The Dubliners 25 Years, Daniel O Donnell to name but a few.

Recording Engineer 1988 - 1991

In 1988, David decided to move to London and began working at Jacobs Studios in Farnham, Surrey, assisting on the No1 album 'When the world knows your name' recorded by the band Deacon Blue. Moving to MasterRock Studios, London in 1989 working with various artists such as Soul II Soul, 'Back to life' - Depeche Mode, 'Enjoy the Silence' - Bryan Ferry 'Mamuna' - Michael Kamen ‘Concerto for Saxophone' featuring David Sanborn, Elaine Page 'Piaf' - Katrina and the Waves 'Edge of the Land'.

Freelance Recording Engineer - Pro Audio Sales 1991- 1995

During this period David worked at various London based recording studios such as Britannia Row Studios famous for the Pink Floyd recording 'Another brick in the wall Part 2' and The Hit Factory studios, ex CBS Studios, London, whilst also promoting and selling pro audio equipment to various recording studios and engineers in and around London.

Riverdance The Show - 1995 - 2004

David joined Riverdance the show in 1995 as a member of the sound crew during it's run at the Hammersmith Apollo, London eventually touring Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. David & Jonathan worked together as members of the sound crew during this period.

Universal Microphone Mount M600 Design and Invention 2004 - 2011

David designed and invented a unique and alternative method of mounting various sized studio microphones, the first customer to purchase his invention was Astoria Studios, the private recording studio of the Pink Floyd guitarist, David Gilmour.

The studio purchased 10 units for use on the 2006 solo album, 'On an Island', recorded by David Gilmour. Other recording artists who have recorded using the M600 include Anita Faltskog, lead singer from the super group ABBA, Susan Boyle, Chris Botti, Sting plus Paul McCartney and other artists worldwide

Avantgarde Acoustic  - International Sales Manager for Asia 2011 - 2014

David joined the company Avantgarde Acoustic, a German Hi-End Hi-Fi manufacturer of spherical horn speakers as International Sales Manager for Asia, promoting, presenting and selling their products in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malayasia.

Jonathan started as a studio runner and then progressed on to be an assistant sound engineer in Windmill Lane Recording Studios in the 1990's, gaining experience by assisting on sessions with artists such as U2, Mark Knopfler, Metallica, The Chieftains and Nick Cave to name but a few. 

Riverdance The Show 1998 - 2003

Moving to live sound at the age of 19 Jonathan was on his first world tour at the age of 21 as Front of House Engineer for Riverdance the Show. He continued arena touring for several years across Europe and Asia, moving then to touring with theatre sized shows across Europe and the US.

Jonathan specialises in mixing acoustic music such as orchestras, traditional and folk music. His client list consists of musicians and artists such as: LAPD, Philip Glass, Liam O'Flynn, Paul Simon, Buena Vista Social Club, Courtney Pine, Colm Wilkinson, and orchestras including the RTÉ Symphony and Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of Scottish Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, The Orchestra of Ireland.
